Use Laser Treatment to Quit Smoking

Even though it is widely known that smoking is one of the leading causes of illnesses and death, affecting 440,000 Americans every year, people can’t seem to kick this nasty habit. This is primarily due to nicotine, a habit forming chemical that is one of the main ingredients in cigarettes. Most cigarette smokers do not even know why nicotine affects them the way it does, and they also do not know that they can use laser treatment to quit smoking.

Why is nicotine so addicting? Once it is absorbed into the person’s bloodstream, the nicotine immediately stimulates the receptors in the brain that triggers the release of endorphins. These endorphins are brain chemicals that give you the feeling of being very relaxed. This effect will usually last for 20-30 minutes, after which the smoker will want to experience the feeling again thus prompting another cigarette, and another until it eventually becomes an addiction.

In order to fight nicotine addiction, it is important to harness this “reward” system that makes cigarettes addicting. By targeting the receptors directly to release the endorphins, you will get a natural sense of satisfaction even without lighting a cigarette. This method is much more effective than just relying on willpower alone to quit smoking.

This is where laser treatment to quit smoking comes in. By targeting a point on the body and using a laser beam on it, the brain is said to release significant amounts of endorphins. These points are said to be centers that stimulate the receptors that release endorphins, pretty much like the way nicotine does. By being able to get the same feeling but without depending on cigarettes, a person will be able to quit the habit completely. Another plus to this method is that it enables the body to detoxify itself of the remaining nicotine in the system, making it even easier for a person to kick the habit.

Depending on which center you apply the laser on, the degree of success will vary. Until a serious and unbiased study is done regarding this method, one could not begin to fathom the possibilities of laser treatment to quit smoking. Even so, the reported success rate of laser therapy is around 60-90 percent, which is still pretty high. Plans are now being made for laser treatments to get an FDA approval. But one should not rely solely on just this method of quitting the habit of smoking. The real success of quitting this habit will depend on the person’s determination and real desire to stop smoking.
